Rose hydrosol (also called rose water when it is a pure hydrosol) is one of the oldest cosmetic ingredients in history. It is obtained by steam distillation of rose petals, in this case from Rosa centifolia and other fragrant roses growing in the villages of the Liébana Valley, in gardens free of chemical treatments. I gather these roses at dawn, while they still hold a little dew, so that I can capture the greatest possible amount of their aromatic molecules.
To give this hydrosol a very personal touch, I have distilled it with the sulphite-free organic wine that Isabel makes at her Orulisa distillery. I first rectified that wine and removed all of its alcoholic fraction. The water-soluble components of the rose, which give it moisturising, refreshing, soothing and toning properties, work in synergy with those of the wine, and all these properties are enhanced. The scent of roses is joined by light aromatic notes of wild flowers, soft red fruit, fresh grape and honey, characteristic of Mencía grape wine.
This product is a very limited edition and I recommend it for this time of year. It is important to keep it away from the light.

SPECIAL USES:
- In summer I now recommend keeping it in the fridge, so that its refreshing, decongesting properties are heightened when you apply it.
- Spray onto the face and neck.
- In the morning, as your first water.
- It can be used as a facial toner after cleansing the face and before the nourishing cream.
- As a pillow mist, to enjoy its aroma and invite the body to relax.
- You can soak a few cotton pads and place them over the eyes to reduce puffiness.
- In the kitchen: spray over salads and drinks to add aroma.
